Thank you so much for turning me on to Audio Boo. I really am going to try it. I have a website and a business that I market in Japan and Korea. I want to make a short audio intro of myself and my business in different langauges.
Iain: I listened to your talk on AudioBoo. It sounds very clear. Really nice. I am a linguist by profession and notice the clear quality of the speech. I attended the University of Surrey in the UK.

@Meryl You know, that’s something I really hadn’t thought about with AudioBoo, but accessibility forms a relatively significant part of my day job. I work as a copywriter for a well-regarded design and learning company and every website or educational tool we produce must meet accessibility guidelines.

It’s something I really want to incorporate more into my personal online world, including here. It’s just that bit more difficult without the technical expertise we have, say, at work. Instead I (and most other people) rely on services like YouTube, AudioBoo etc, where accessibility isn’t necessarily thought about.

The redesigned Write for Your Life will include a mixture of text-based articles and more audio/visual stuff, but I’ll look into making whatever I/we produce as accessible as possible, including captions on videos.

Huge thanks for your comment, that’s really got me thinking.

Oh, no… another app that leaves some of us behind. I hope this won’t catch on to the point that it becomes a Twitter replacement.

Why?

Because I am deaf. Although I could post audios of my voice, one-way interaction just won’t do. Successful social networking is a two-way street.

It’s hard enough dealing with growing web video and DVD-services streaming that don’t have captions.

Just one person’s perspective.
