Jonathan Franzen on writer's block
I like the cut of his jib:
In my experience, it happens when I’m trying to write something that I’m not ready to write, or that I don’t really *want* to write. And there’s no way to discover my unreadiness or unwillingness except to try and fail.
For me, it’s almost always when I’ve got something else on my mind, usually something life-related. That’s not really block, though. That’s more the general challenge of writing.
