Literary figures fight eco-plan for TS Eliot's favourite village
From This is Devon:
A beautiful corner of the Westcountry that inspired TS Eliot to write one of his greatest poems is under threat from housing developers. Now an army of literary figures have been mobilised to save it. Novelist Jeanette Winterson and former poet laureate Sir Andrew Motion are among those who have rallied to the defence of the Somerset village that is the last resting place of Eliot, considered by many to be the greatest poet of the 20th century. The writers say they can see no rhyme or reason why the place should be blighted in the name of development.
