Just listened to your first Podcast and I'd like to say a massive congratulations. I appreciate how much time and effort goes into recording these things but here’s hoping it’s the first of many.

This is my first post by the way. Hello.

I agree, Jude. I wasn't trying to have an "effect" on the world, just the people in the Lescar.

Really like the delivery and content, Iain. The audio quality is awesome, really smooth, like Radio 4!

If you want to interview me about writing my books for your most excellent podcast I will gladly volunteer my services! :)

I'm still unsure about writing being read out loud. I prefer to read rather than listen to fiction, but I think it's a personal thing.

@Rex

> Otherwise, its like the old zen proverb - if my dead-tree-writing falls in the literary-forest and there’s no-one there to hear it, does it really make a noise?

The way I see it Rex, is we're all in the same boat. You, me, Dostoeyvsky, Plato, Barbara Cartland, whoever. According to the earth-existing-for-24-hours analogy, civilisation only arrived 1 second before midnight at the end of the 24 hours. And it's highly unlikely that anyone is going to be reading anything any of us have written in 10,000 years time (a very short amount of time in the future, in the cosmic scheme of things.) Also, the earth could get destroyed by an asteroid at any minute. So, what does it matter? That's why I try to write to the best of my ability without really thinking about the "effect" on the world, because the world is so delicate, fragile and transitory.

"Waffer thin", as the frenchmen says in the After Eight ads.

Hi Iain - congrats on your new multimedia project. Listening to your podcast, I realised how lucky I've been in not having trouble with my muse - because I don't have one! The one thing that got me writing regularly was finding an audience to present it to i.e. Words Aloud. So thanks for that, mate. Otherwise, its like the old zen proverb - if my dead-tree-writing falls in the literary-forest and there's no-one there to hear it, does it really make a noise?

You're all very, very kind. Good to have you on board Mark - straight outta Tumblr, which is like Compton, but cuddlier.

"Iain is abnormal".

That was really good. We listened to it twice and are all signed-up for the next ones. And by "we", I mean "I".

Nicely done.

Really enjoyed that Iain. That posh podcasting gear was money well spent! And not to worry, you sounded perfectly natural. You made it sound easy! Look forward to #2.
